MONDAY ACTIVITIES

Harold and The Purple: Book Video – This book is about a little boy who goes on an adventure with his little purple crayon and his drawing imagination. Harold starts off in his bedroom and draws mountains, animals, a boat, a hot air balloon, a city and his own bed. After watching the video you can give your child a piece of paper and a crayon (or markers/pencils if that is what you have) and ask them what they would draw if they were able to go on an adventure. Math / Science

TUESDAY ACTIVITIES

Shape Hunt – Work with your child to draw different shapes on a piece of paper (diamond, circle, star, oval, rectangle, trapezoid, etc). Then walk around the house, backyard, neighborhood, or a nearby park to look for each shape as you go. Ex: street signs that are shaped as a diamond, houses shaped as a square, buildings shaped as a rectangle, etc.

WEDNESDAY ACTIVITIES

Movement/Exercise Activity – We thought it would be a good idea to dance and sing along to “If you’re happy and you know it” after reading If You’re a Monster and You Know It. Both the song and the book are very similar so let’s wiggle our bodies to the song that we know and have fun! Search for “If You’re Happy and You Know It” and encourage your child to sing along.  https://video.link/w/ncs5c

Art / Writing

THURSDAY ACTIVITIES

Play-Dough Snakes – For this activity, kids can roll small balls of dough into long snakes and form letters by bending and joining the snakes together. You can practice doing all the letters in the alphabets with the wiki stix alphabets cards and/or your child’s name.

Social Emotional

Five Little Monkeys Swinging in the Tree – This is a song we love to sing! Ask your child if they already know it and help them sing along. There are hand motions that go with it (hands rocking back and forth like they are the monkeys swinging in the tree, hands together to make the snout of the alligator, and a big clap when the alligator snaps the money out of the tree)

Five little monkeys swinging in the tree

teasing Mr. Alligator can’t catch me, you can’t catch me

along came Mr. Alligator quiet as can be

then snapped that monkey right out of the tree

Four little monkeys swinging in the tree

teasing Mr. Alligator can’t catch me, you can’t catch me

along came Mr. Alligator quiet as can be

then snapped that monkey right out of the tree

Three little monkeys swinging in the tree

teasing Mr. Alligator can’t catch me, you can’t catch me

along came Mr. Alligator quiet as can be

then snapped that monkey right out of the tree

Two little monkeys swinging in the tree

teasing Mr. Alligator can’t catch me, you can’t catch me

along came Mr. Alligator quiet as can be

then snapped that monkey right out of the tree

One little monkeys swinging in the tree

teasing Mr. Alligator can’t catch me, you can’t catch me

along came Mr. Alligator quiet as can be

then snapped that monkey right out of the tree
