Access to good food and supportive relationships shouldn’t end when school is out. In King County, 100,000 low-income students have access to free meals during the school year, but less than 1 in 5 access free meals served during the summer.
Neighborhood House’s Seola Gardens location in White Center, and our Burndale and Firwood Circle locations in Auburn welcome children of all ages for free meals and snacks. These three locations have been serving youth and families all year round for more than a decade now. Thanks to our partnership with the United Way of King County, Hunger Corps, not only are children receiving free meals, but they can participate in academic enrichment and social emotional activities, all while having fun.
Our Youth and Family Services teams are gearing up for end of year parties to celebrate our families’ and students’ achievements. Once our summer programs start, you may see them out and about in our new vans, generously donated by Wellpoint! Some places on their list to visit include the Woodland Park Zoo, MoPop, and Seattle Art Museum.
Have a great summer!
