Summer Water Play
Sponge water bombs:
These water bombs are heaps of fun for any age! Cut thin strips of dishwashing sponge and then tie the strips tightly around the middle. Dunk into a bucket of water and you are ready to play!
Bubble Painting with Bubble Blowers
POP! There is something just so magical about bubbles.
Simply tip a little bubble mixture into each tray or cup – one for each color, and then add a little food coloring to each tray and stir gently – you don’t want to make too many bubbles in your cup because the bubbles don’t work so well when the mixture is all bubbly. We used red, blue, yellow and pink.
Then it is time to blow bubbles! All over your paper.

HOW MANY DROPS TO FILL THE DOTS?
Materials: dropper, paper, pencil, water, food color, zip-lock bags or cling wrap.
Draw some different sized circles randomly around a piece of paper and laminated the paper. If you do not have a laminator, you can use a sheet protector, a zip-loc bag, or even tape wax paper over your paper.
Next, prepared a few cups of colored water with water and food coloring.
Start counting how many drops of water to take to fill the dots. Since they were all different sizes, it was fun to compare them.

FUN AND SPLASHY WATER GAMES FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY
Sponge Run
Place one full bucket of water at one side of your garden, and an empty one on the other. Each player gets a sponge and must use the sponge to transport the water from the full bucket to the empty one, filling it up from the bucket and carrying it on their head across the garden!
Water balloon pinata
Instead of using water balloons for this game (which are made with thin plastic so that they burst more easily), you’re better off using regular balloons. Fill them up with water and hang them from a pole or monkey bars. Give your players a bat or a stick and let them loose on the balloons. The first player to pop the balloon (and get wet!) is the winner!
Sponge toss
Looking for quick ways to help your kids cool off? You’ll need 2 large buckets, one big sponge and some water. Fill both of the buckets with water and place them some distance apart (depending on how far your kids can throw). Get one player to stand by each bucket, dip the sponge in the water and throw it to the person opposite them. Points are knocked off for dropping the sponge!
