Week Nov. 15-19 Learning Resource

Message from your teachers!

Welcome to this week’s Learning Resource! We hope you are doing well and staying safe and healthy! As we make plans to reopen, we are grateful for your patience and collaboration as we start doing some in-person visits outside and talking about what reopening might look like. As always, if you ever have questions or concerns, please reach out to one of us and we can talk!

Our four program-wide expectations are Be Compassionate, Be Curious, Be A Community and Be Courageous. This week we will focus on how children can Be Curious.

We are Curious when we:

  • Explore new ideas
  • Ask “I Wonder” questions
  • Imagine the possibilities
  • Test our ideas
  • Value the challenge

In this week’s learning resource, you’ll find an activity related to this week’s expectation. Let us know how it went!

Movement / Play

Be Curious (Movement & Play):

Did you know there are 5 ways to learn about things?? They’re called the 5 senses! The 5 senses are Seeing, Smelling, Hearing, Touching and Tasting!

The next time you are playing outside, or at the store, you can use some of these senses to explore your curiosity. For example, if you are at the store, you can SEE all the different foods they have! Can you name the colors you SEE?

If you’re at home, you can TASTE the food you eat with your family! Does the food taste sweet, salty or something else?

Take some time with your family to Be Curious about the different things you can smell and hear and touch, too! You can talk about them, draw pictures, or even make up a song to sing about them!

Have fun reading and listening to the story by clicking on the link below.

Talk about the colors of Pete’s shoes and what kinds of feelings Pete had when his shoes kept changing colors.   Ask your child how they would feel if their favorite shoes changed colors or got mud them.  Then name the colors of Pete’s shoes.
