Head Start encourages parent participation!  Want to gain job/leadership skills?  Start attending parent meetings and join the policy Council when there’s a spot. Parents get to help decide how our classes/curriculum run. 

If your kiddo is heading towards kindergarten make sure:

-they get their shots

-and that you practice calling us every time you’re unable to make class. The public school will call you each time your child is absent and ask you why…

Suggested lesson plan time amounts per week: 7.5 hours week

Social Emotional

At the end of the day ask your children how did they help (or work together with)  their brothers/sisters, friend or yourself today?

To give them ideas, read this book about elephant and piggy sharing a game with their friend Brian the snake.

Skills: conversation about sharing/helping, vocabulary, recalling parts of a story


All the World read aloud :

This is a great book for vocabulary! It helps your child learn a lot of things 🙂

WRITING PRACTICE: make some tiny books: each page can have a different word on it: toys: bear/ball/baby doll


Can you sing Mr. Sun and “rain on the green grass” with me?

Language skills: Vocabulary/conversation skills/Fine motor holding pen/making letter shapes

Art / Writing

Draw what you hear/bird sounds-A girl draws in the forest the sound shapes she hears the birds make- you can try it too!

Skills: fine motor skills of cutting/taping/conversation skills

Math / Science

SPRING SCIENCE: Next week we will sprout beans in a Ziploc bag during Option B class. Here’s how it will work:


Dampen paper towel with spray bottle.

Place wet paper towel in Ziploc Bag.

Place bean on top of wet paper towel.

Close Ziploc Bag.

Place Ziploc Bag in a warm, sunny spot.

Add water to paper towel when it dries out.

Observe your plant growing in 3-5 days!  You can transplant into a garden after that 🙂 › experiments

It’s spring! Can you pretend to be a bird? Dance like a bird and then go out and look for some and listen to their sounds.

-Great moving/motor activities created by a dad to do with his kid!

-Ridiculously fun dance moves exercise including “the chicken”

Skills: indoor moving vocab/imagination and storytelling practice/moving for exercise while doing science observation!
