Welcome to this week’s Learning Resource! We hope you will enjoy these activities and resource links. We are working hard to make sure the classrooms are set up and ready for our return to in-person classes. We have not yet heard back on a reopening date, but please trust that we are doing everything we can to make everything as safe as possible!

Activities to Try at Home!
Language / Literacy
Find your favorite book and read it with a friend or family member. As you finish reading the book, think of what could happen AFTER the end of the story! Be Curious as to what the characters would do after the story’s ending. For example, if you’re reading Hair Love, what would Zuri do with her Mom now that she’s home?
Art / Writing
Open, Shut. Open, Shut
All you need for this activity is some paper, crayons and scissors! Encourage your child to draw a couple of simple shapes, like a circle or square shape. They can even color it in if they want! After they’ve finished coloring, use child-safe scissors and cut out the shapes! If your child needs help with cutting, try this little rhyme:
“Open, Shut. Open, Shut. That’s the way we cut, cut, cut!”
Movement / Play
Bean Bag Rock!
Grab a small bean bag or a ball of socks and dance along! Ask me for the password!
Math / Science
Count the Cheerios!
Use Cheerio cereal or any kind of small snack for this game to help your child practice with counting! You can use pieces of paper and write a few different numbers on them, then your child can look at the number, and count out that many Cheerios. This picture here is just an example, you don’t have to draw circles with the number unless you really want to!
